Think about hybrid cars, you think about high mileage vehicles. Now, SUV’s, ahh, big things that feel safe but get bad gas mileage, OK, now Lexus, hmm, ultimate Luxury in the human range of cars. Combine them, huh?The 400 RXh is that combination with some different results. Mileage is like an upside down car 31 city, 27 Highway. Not especially impressive numbers by themselves, but add the acceleration it has, and that it’s over two tons sitting up in the air, and that it is a Lexus. OK, it is a good trick At 50 k with some of the popular options, if you’re buying this rig you shouldn’t have to sweat gas prices. It’s not a saving money thing. It is a green vehicle, which seems a contradiction in terms that it’s also a mid sized SUV. I bet that still isn’t the main reason, come on if you spend 50K on something it has to do something for you emotionally. It’s got to give you some sort of psychological rush. This is a Lexus more than a hybrid or an SUV.This SUV has Gizmos. Windshield wipers that turn on automatically when it rains, HID headlights that look around a corner with you, of course electronic stability control, electronic traction control, electronic power steering, electronic braking proportioning, electronic tire pressure monitoring, and if that doesn’t use up all the electrons, there’s two electric motors. OK, it doesn’t even stop there, a laser controlled cruise control, a memory that remembers how you like things, an air conditioning system that monitors and filter outside pollution, heated seats, a back up camera, a DVD navigation system that you can have a conversation with, all wrapped up with in leather and exotic real woods, covered with fancy pearl paint. Those aren’t all the gizmos either, just the high points. The Sport is more like polo than bowling in this SUV.Ahh, but its nimble and quick too, at least by SUV standards 268 of combined high tech hp and a suspension that would take a doctorate degree to really understand running through a smart all wheel drive system. Remember, it is a Lexus. It’s got to drive like one. Really, 50 K isn’t too much for THAT.
